Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

By obeying the angel of the Lord, Joseph was going to displease his family members and friends. Let’s be honest, who was going to believe such an outlandish story. Imagine telling family and friends that your bride-to-be was pregnant but don’t worry, she was impregnated by the Holy Spirit. Of course NONE would believe it and the advice would have come fast furious to leave her.

However, a principle is revealed here. Pleasing God may mean disappointing people. Joseph had a decision to make; obey God and launch an incredible future or listen to the voices of family and friends and resolve himself to a place of comfort and acceptance.

Matthew 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the LORD had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

He obeyed God! If you’re not ready to be criticized for your obedience to God then you are not ready to be used by God. Extraordinary acts of God start with ordinary acts of obedience.

We have no idea what we set into motion by an ordinary act of obedience. Joseph wouldn’t have  fully realized what he set into motion by this simple act of obedience… the most incredible miracle ever performed.

Never underestimate the power of little acts of obedience in their ability to unleash the extraordinary acts of God. As a baby was growing in the womb that would soon bring deliverance… your acts of obedience has deposited something in a womb of possibility and is incubating to maturity.

Be consistent, patient, and full of expectation in 2018. Watch the birthings of God be delivered as rewards for your obedience in 2017.
